Summary General text description of the levee system with a summary of why the levee is there, and the benefits it provides.
East Twin Creek 2 Levee System is located in the City of San Bernardino, in the County of San Bernardino, in the State of California. East Twin Creek 2 Levee System is located along the left/east bank of East Twin Creek. East Twin Creek 2 Levee System originally constructed by local interests but later improved by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). The East Twin Creek 2 Levee System levee embankment extends from approximately 3,074 feet upstream of 40th Street to the East Twin Creek Channel inlet structure at Marshall Boulevard, a distance of 8,670 feet. East Twin Creek 2 Levee System also includes a total of 127 feet of channel at its downstream limit along the left/east bank of East Twin Creek Channel. East Twin Creek 2 Levee System is locally operated and maintained by the San Bernardino County Flood Control District.
Performance & Condition General text description of the historical and anticipated performance of the levee, the people and property benefitting from the levee and who may be at risk of flooding, and actions to address areas of concern.
The following Risk Characterization is a description of risk associated with this levee system. It is currently undergoing review and may be updated in the future. The LSOG considers the risk associated with East Twin Creek 2 to be low for Prior to Overtopping due to anticipated moderate performance with low associated consequences and also to be Low for Overtopping due to the relatively infrequent likelihood of overtopping and low associated consequences. The levee is expected to perform well under significant loading; however uncertain in performance due to significant amount of unwanted vegetation, unknown condition of the culverts, and unknown condition of bank protection. Embankment seepage concerns are offset by the short loading duration and embankment erosion concerns are somewhat offset by the robust levee section. There is a high level of community awareness and flood warning effectiveness; there is a low potential for loss of life and the potential economic damages are low.
